Founder and President

Jan M. Smith, Founder and Principal of Inland Management Group, is a seasoned professional with over 20+ years of successful Human Resource expertise.  She is known for her ability to provide organizations and clients with invaluable professional advice in the areas of Training and Development, Employee Relations, Human Resource Management and Recruitment.  She is an exciting facilitator, speaker and trainer for both national and international corporate and non-profit organizations.

Ms. Smith’s corporate experienced spanned the entertainment and retail sectors where she held various executive positions for Disney Worldwide Services, Saks Fifth Avenue and Robinson’s May Department Stores. Her consulting practice has extended to numerous industries including, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and manufacturing, for companies such as The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries, Universal Studios Hollywood, Nestle USA, Mirage Resorts Inc., Westin and Sheraton Resorts, Caesars Palace Entertainment Company, Princess Cruises, Mastro’s Restaurants LLC, ESPN Zone, Callaway Winery, and Pechanga Resort and Casino.

Ms. Smith is a professional facilitator, speaker and trainer who delivers informative and exciting presentations on topics encompassing major business and Human Resource issues including, Providing Premier Customer Service, Creating a Culture of Care, Four-Diamond Business Image, Cultural Change Management, Effective Recruiting and Retention, and Generational Issues in the Workplace (www.janmsmith.com).

Partnering with the Tokyo DisneySeas organization, Ms. Smith developed career transition processes for expatriate employees.  Locally, she designed and implemented a culture change program for over 1,700 opening staff members of Southern California’s Pechanga Resort and Casino, and recently followed this program with a Professional Image and Presentation course for all executive management and non-uniformed staff.

Noted as an expert in the recruitment field for difficult to hire positions, Ms. Smith has completed several large-scale pre-opening recruitment projects.  She identified and placed the opening staff of culinary positions for the 2,500-room Beau Rivage Mirage Resort property in Biloxi, Mississippi, and conducted similar recruiting assignments for major Las Vegas casino organizations.

Ms. Smith holds a Bachelors of Administration business degree from the University of LaVerne, LaVerne, California, and a Certification in Human Resources from California State University, Northridge.  She is on the Board of Directors for the Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is the Chair for the Hospitality Task Force.  Ms. Smith is also a member of the Temecula Chamber of Commerce.  She also holds the position of Corporate Director of Human Resources for Azul Hospitality Management Company.  She is a co-author of Heart of a Women in Business, and is currently authoring two books due to be published in 2009.  Jan is a contributing writer for the Temecula Valley Convention and Visitor’s Bureau’s monthly Hospitality Newsletter, and will be a contributing writer for the soon to be launched “Finding What Matters” website.
